Bergvang visiting farm arranges tours all year round, with high season in summer and throughout the autumn. On the tours we emphasize safety and adapt the arrangements so that everyone will feel safe and have a pleasant experience.
The horses we use are mainly of the Icelandic horse breed, but we also use Shetland ponies for our youngest riders. The Icelandic horse is a fantastically good and steady hiking horse that brings the rider safely into the terrain with soft movements. In addition to the usual gaits, trot and canter/gallop, the Icelandic horse has also tøly and some also have pace. Tølt is a four-beat gait as opposed to 2-beat trot, and is thus a very comfortable way to ride. Pace is used only during competitive riding.
As we have Icelandic horses, we have set the weight limit for riders to 110 kg, and we will only offer hourly rides for riders between 90-110 kg.
One or more tour guides from us will always attend the tours as riding entails some risk. During all riding, a helmet should be worn, and we recommend shoes or boots with heels. Helmets can be borrowed from us.

Levels/Skills
Beginner: Tours marked with "nybegynner"(beginner) are leisurely rides for riders with no experience of trotting/galloping outside riding houses, or who have not ridden before. We walk and can try the tøltl or trot if everyone wants to. The tours are in simple terrain.
A little practised: Tours that are marked with "litt øvet" are tours for riders who masters trot and gallop outside riding houses and who are comfortable with some speed. The rides can go on steep and slightly rough terrain where the rider has to steer the horse.
Advanced: Rides marked "øvede" are rides for experienced riders who tackle all gaitsand are comfortable with a lot of speed. The tours often take place on steep and rugged terrain.
